Farmweld is a family business, in the true sense, owned and operated by proprietors
Andrew & Tricia
Hood with the assistance of helpers who may as well be part of the family.
Andrew
Hood - Sales, Operations & Fabrication/Blacksmithing
Andrew
was raised on a wheat and sheep farm on
SA's west coast so is very familiar with the requirements of a working
farm. Andrew believes in spending time with
clients to ascertain what they really 'need' rather than just selling
something "off the rack", and designs the best and most cost
effective solution for the clients' situation. If required site visits
can be
arranged.
Tricia
Hood - Administration, Marketing & Finance
Tricia
has a diverse background in
administration, design and
retail. With an eye for detail, she assists with the designing as she
is the one, as Andrew puts it "with the ability to
visualise how things will look best". Tricia is responsible for
marketing,
administration and finance and like Andrew has a strong customer focus.
When you contact Farmweld Tricia is usually the first point of contact
for most customers.
How Farmweld began...Andrew
& Tricia purchased a run down property in 2003 and needed to
replace some gates. The range of farm gates on the market was limited
to either
contemporary pipe gates or mesh field
gates and were generally imported,
poorly made, and potentially unsafe for stock and
humans. They didn't want gates which had built in redundancy,
they wanted something that would last. Not
finding any suitable farm gates for sale they made the decision to make
their own gates and animal handling
equipment which was
strong and safe. Having odd sized gateways, it was obvious that others
were in the same predicament where standard gates wouldn't fit, so it
was decided that all products would be custom made to
suit their customers needs.
Farmweld has since developed a reputation for specialising in heritage gates beginning with:
- A range of
heritage style farm gates that was initially designed to emulate "old style"
Australian gates.
- Heritage wrought iron gates with woven wire and chain mesh were soon included in the range.
- Cast jointed gates were added in 2009 along with the technology and equipment to weld cast iron to mild steel.
- Early in 2011 blacksmithing facilities were purchased
enabling the fabrication of heritage blacksmithed gates using
traditional forging techniques.
- Gates can now be made using traditional or a combination of modern and traditional techniques.
Older heritage gates could now be faithfully restored and reproduced.
Why should I buy a Farmweld Product?
- Farmweld builds products
up to standard, not down to a price,
- almost every item is custom
made to the customers specifications.
- Why make do and just buy off the shelf when
you can have
something made exactly as you need it?
Customer Service
Old
fashioned customer service
and reliability seems to be a dying trait these days.
- Farmweld value their customers and make it a high priority to provide
you with good
customer service so that you get the product you really need.
- As a Farmweld customer you will be consulted before and if necessary
during fabrication to ensure you get just what you require.

customers have to say.
