About Us

"Regardless
of whether your requirements are large, or small single items, a
friendly
reception is always guaranteed. Why not come and see us, and look at
our
range? Ring us for a chat - we are here to help you."
Farmweld is a small
family business, in the true sense, owned and operated by proprietors Andrew & Tricia
Hood with the occasional assistance of additional family members.
Andrew
Hood - Sales, Operations & Fabrication
Andrew
was raised on a wheat and sheep farm on
SA's west coast so is very familiar with the requirements of a working
farm. Certified as an aircraft engineer as well as studies in social
work he maintains high standards for the products he designs
and manufactures,
with safety being paramount. Andrew believes in spending time with
clients to ascertain what they really 'need' rather than just selling
something "off the rack", and designs the best and most cost
effective solution for the clients' situation. If required site visits
can be
arranged.
Tricia
Hood - Administration, Marketing & Finance
Tricia has a diverse background in
administration, design and
retail sectors, and studies in psychology. In conjunction with
Andrew she designed a number of the Heritage Style
Country Gates and is the one, as Andrew puts it "with the ability to
visualise how things will look best". Tricia is responsible for
marketing,
administration and finance and like Andrew has a strong customer focus
and is usually the first point of contact for most customers and responsible for follow up calls.
Analise Hood - p/t Graphic Design Assistant
Analise
is studying multimedia and has an excellent grasp of Photoshop and
associated graphic design software. She has been instrumental in
assisting with photography, image manipulation and web design in
conjunction with Tricia.
How we
began...
Having purchased a run down property in 2003, Andrew &
Tricia quickly
identified a need for safe, affordable, and well made gates. Most of
the gates available in the market were either imported,
not particularly well made, potentially unsafe for stock and
humans, or any combination of the above.
The
available range of farm gates was also limited to either
contemporary tubular pipe gates or mesh field
gates. They also
recognised that small farmers and property owners could not afford -
either financially or time wise - to replace their gates and equipment
after
only 2-5 years. A number of broadacre farmers were also tired of having
to replace their gates frequently due to poor product
quality. They also recognised that small property owners wanted to
build on or reuse existing infrastructure rather than buying all new
equipment such as cattle and sheep yards which could ultimately lead to
overcapitalisation.
Consequently
they made the decision to start manufacturing gates and equipment that
is
strong, safe and affordable with the option of customisation so items
suit their clients needs. They also developed a range of
heritage gates made with modern materials that emulate the "old style"
gates seen around. Other products and farm equipment were
added to the range as needs were expressed by customers. One
defining feature is that Farmweld builds products
up to standard, not down to a price, and almost every item is custom
made to the customers specifications.
Customer Service
Old
fashioned customer service
and reliability seems to be a dying trait these days. At
Farmweld we value our customers and make it a high priority to provide
good
customer service. To help
customers get the products
they really need, they are consulted before and if necessary
during fabrication to ensure they get just what they require.
Why make do and just buy off the shelf when
you can have
something made exactly as you need it?
The "proof is in the pudding", check out the testimonials and see how happy our customers have been with our service.
